The Hong Kong Institute of Project Management is one of the supporting organizations and we encourage our members to participate this award. The objective of the award is shown as follows:
- To provide recognition to building-related / research projects with outstanding contributions in sustainability;
- To encourage adoption of sustainable planning, design, construction, maintenance & renovation of buildings.
Award Criteria
New Buildings (buildings completed on or after 1 January 2001)
¡E Sustainability policy;
¡E Consideration of the visual, cultural, environmental and social effects on the surrounding environment and community;
¡E Consideration of the overall performance of every stages of a building life;
¡E Resources and energy conservation;
¡E Waste and pollution management and control;
¡E Use of environmentally friendly design, construction materials, and construction and demolition method;
¡E Buildability and maintainability;
¡E Microclimate consideration;
¡E Incorporation of vegetation;
¡E Living quality and indoor environmental quality; and
¡E Innovations.
Existing Buildings (buildings completed before 1 January 2001)
¡E Sustainable management and maintenance scheme;
¡E Maintenance programme;
¡E Operation, management and maintenance of the building fabric and building features;
¡E Efficient use and modifications of existing fabric, facilities and features to enhance energy efficiency and functioning;
¡E Use of sustainable and harmless materials;
¡E Living quality and indoor environmental quality; and
¡E Innovations.
Newly Renovated Buildings (renovation completed on or after 1 January 2001)
¡E Sustainability policy;
¡E Compatibility with the existing building and surrounding environment;
¡E Consideration of the visual, cultural, environmental and social effects on the surrounding environment, community, and occupants;
¡E Consideration of the overall performance of every stages of a building life;
¡E Resources and energy conservation;
¡E Waste and pollution management and control;
¡E Use of environmentally friendly design, construction materials, and construction / demolition method;
¡E Buildability and maintainability;
¡E Microclimate consideration;
¡E Enhancement of natural environment;
¡E Living quality and indoor environmental quality; and
¡E Innovations.
Research and Planning Studies
¡E Relevance in the industry in terms of sustainable planning, design, construction and/or operation of the built environment;
¡E Fundamental research that enhances the advancement in sustainability;
¡E Innovations; and
¡E Originality.
Nomination
Nominated projects must be within the territorial limits of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region with no limitation in size and cost.
Nominated projects should be practically completed within the specified period as stated.
