Programme Highlights

Kaiping Diaolou and Villages was inscribed on the World Cultural Heritage List on June 26, 2007. Kaiping is not far from Hong Kong but was like a buried place for years and just discovered. UNESCO included Kaiping as a World Heritage Site because of its rich overseas Chinese history behind the architecture, the wonderful cultural landscape and the good on-site consevation practice.

Ms TAN Jinhua, Selia

Selia, director of Kaiping Diaolou Research Department, is one of the key persons to charge the whole application process. She was one of the two authors of the Application Dossier and the author of the Kaiping Management Plan. She will share with you her experience of her historical research on the background history of Kaiping Diaolou and the conservation experience of this site.
